New Delhi: Defending champions Sanskriti School, Chankayapri and Delhi Public School, Mathura Road entered in the semi-finals of the 3rd A. R. Khan Memorial Inter – School Football Tournament being held at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium here today.
In the quarterfinals, Sanskriti School defeated Ryan Public School, Noida 2 – 0 to move to the semi-final. Nilansh Mitra drew first blood (1 – 0 ) in 20th minute. Kshitiz Darwain made it 2 – 0 in 35th minute. Sanskriti School will meet Moti Lal Sports School, Rai in the second semi – final to be held on Aprial 29 at 9. 30 AM.
Later in another quarterfinal match Delhi Public School, Mathura Road defeated Apeejay School, Noida 5 – 3 via tie – breaker, after levelling goalless at the end of regular period. In the tie – breaker, Nishant, Sushant, Sagar, Varun and Sartak Srivastava converted spot-kicks for DPS, Mathura Road. For Apeejay School, Sartik, Amarjeet and Karan were the successful scorers.
DPS, Mathura Road will meet DPS, Noida in the 1st semi-final scheduled on April 29 at 8. 30 AM. There will be no match tomorrow. The final is slated on April 30.
