Kapil &amp; Anil Kumar Archers, Sh. Oscar Bansal Badminton player &amp; \u00a0Poonam &amp; \u00a0Mukesh Kumar Para Olympic International Table Tennis Players alongwith \u00a0Vikas Shastri, Archery Coach. \u00a0 Manjot Singh product of Tennis Caching Centre was felicitated for his position in the AITA Tournament and 1st position in the National School Games. Cash Award of Rs. 5,36,000\/- was distributed among 5 International sportspersons and 1 Coach alongwith Tennis player The Education Department honor 225 players and 25 Teachers in 24 disciplines for their achievements in the Nationals School Games during the year 2011-12.<\/p>\n<p>Olympian Manjeet Singh represented India in the London Olympic Games 2012 in the event of light weight double scull alongwith \u00a0Prashant Chopra who was member of Junior World Cup 2012 were also honored being trainee of Chandigarh Rowing and Cricket Coaching Centre on the eve. \u00a0Ex-player of Chandigarh Hockey Academy <\/p>\n<p>Manmeet Raj Singh &amp; \u00a0Kawaldeep Singh, Hockey players who were nurtured in the Chandigarh Hockey Academy were honored on this occasion for their achievements.<\/p>\n<p>V.K Singh, Secretary Education and Sports, \u00a0Sunil Bhatia, Director Sports, \u00a0Upkar Singh, Director Public Instructions (s), Dr. J.P.S Sidhu, Joint Director Sports and prominent personalities, Councilors, Council\u2019s members were present.<\/p>\n<p>K.K Sharma, IAS appreciated and lauded the efforts of City players to bring laurels at International &amp; National level and convey to the parents \/ custodians to send their wards for sports participation to have a healthy and strong nation. \u00a0 V.K Singh, IAS Secretary Education &amp; Sports hoped that with the infrastructure facilities available in the city will scale new height in sports.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Indian Sports News Network<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chandigarh:\u00a0The Chandigarh Sports Council in conjunction with Department of Sports &amp; Education, Chandigarh Administration celebrated National Sports Day to commemorate Birth Anniversary of Hockey Legend Late Major Dhyan Chand on 29.08.2012 at Hockey Stadium, Sector \u2013 42, Chandigarh.
