{"id":9003,"date":"2012-08-05T05:21:42","date_gmt":"2012-08-05T05:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=9003"},"modified":"2012-08-05T05:21:42","modified_gmt":"2012-08-05T05:21:42","slug":"london-olympics-krishna-poonia-disappoints-finishes-7th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=9003","title":{"rendered":"London Olympics: Krishna Poonia disappoints, ends 7th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/00%20krishna-poonia-gold-medal.jpg\" width=\"200\" alt=\"London Olympics: Krishna Poonia disappoints, finishes 7th\" style=\"margin: 6px; float: left;\" \/><strong>London<\/strong>: Indian ace discus thrower Krishna Poonia rolled out an average performance to finish seventh in the women&#8217;s discus throw at the London Olympics at the Olympic Stadium here on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Poonia, the Commonwealth Games gold medalist could not even touch her personal best of 64.76m and her best throw was 63.76. <\/p>\n<p>Poonia, the only Indian at the finals after Seema Antil failed to qualify started off with a 62.42m in her first attempt, which placed her into the top eight before fouling the second. <\/p>\n<p>She then came up with a 61.61m clearance in the third.<\/p>\n<p>Out of the 12 finalists, only eight could make it through for the final three throws and Poonia was placed seventh at that stage.<\/p>\n<p>But then things did not get any better for her and she fouled her fourth throw before clearing 63.62m in her fifth and 61.31m in her sixth and last attempts.<\/p>\n<p>European champion Sandra Perkovic of Croatia won the gold with a throw of 69.11m while the silver and bronze went to Darya Pishchalnikova (67.56m) of Russia and reigning World champion Li Yanfeng (67.22m) of China respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Indian Sports News Network<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>London: Indian ace discus thrower Krishna Poonia rolled out an average performance to finish seventh in the women&#8217;s discus throw at the London Olympics at the Olympic Stadium here on Saturday.
