{"id":8165,"date":"2012-07-04T07:58:03","date_gmt":"2012-07-04T07:58:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=8165"},"modified":"2012-07-04T07:58:03","modified_gmt":"2012-07-04T07:58:03","slug":"london-dreams-shattered-for-indian-relay-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=8165","title":{"rendered":"London Dreams shattered for Indian Relay Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>New India<\/strong>: Indian Relay Team would not represent the country at the 2012 London Olympics as they failed to make the cut in the IAAF list released yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The aggregate of the two fastest times achieved by the national teams in the qualification period of January 1, 2011 to July 2, 2012 was taken into consideration and the team fell short of the team required time. India failed to be among the top 16 countries that made the cut.<\/p>\n<p>The qualification period for the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s 4x100m and 4x400m Relays at the London Games ended on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>India was hoping to qualify for the Olympics only in Women\u2019s 4X400m. With three members of the Commonwealth and Asian Games gold-winning women&#8217;s 4x400m relay quartet &#8211; Ashwini Akkunji, Sini Jose and Mandeep Kaur &#8211; and the fourth, Manjeet Kaur ruled to have retired by a NADA.<\/p>\n<p>Ashwini, Sini and Mandeep faced a one year ban and their ban was lifted \u00a0had their mIndia had hopes to qualify in relay events in London Olympics only in women&#8217;s 4X400m.<\/p>\n<p>The aggregate of the two fastest times achieved by national teams in the qualification period of January 1, 2011 to July 2, 2012 was taken into consideration for the Olympic qualification.<\/p>\n<p>Ashwini, Sini and Mandeep were banned by a NADA panel for one year and the ban ended before the Olympics.
