\"Denmark'sLviv<\/strong>: Sunderland and Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner has been fined 100,000 euros and banned for one international match for displaying the name of a betting company on his underpants in a Euro 2012 game.<\/p>\n

Bendtner pulled down his shorts to reveal underpants with the name of Paddy Power, an Irish gambling firm, after scoring for Denmark in their 2-3 defeat to Portugal Wednesday.<\/p>\n

“This suspension applies to the next 2014 FIFA World Cup match, including the qualifying competition, for which Bendtner is eligible,” UEFA said in a website statement.<\/p>\n

“The player has also been fined 100,000 euros.”<\/p>\n

He can appeal within three days of a full written decision being sent out, UEFA said, without specifying when it would be sent.<\/p>\n

Bendtner was charged with “improper conduct” under law four of the Laws of the Game, which covers players’ clothing.<\/p>\n

An amendment to the law specifically bans players revealing” undergarments showing slogans or advertising”.<\/p>\n

Bendtner is the only player to have been punished by UEFA at Euro 2012, although six national football associations have been hit with charges.<\/p>\n

Including the Bendtner case, UEFA has levied fines totalling 290,000 euros for various offences at Euro 2012, with several cases still to be heard. (IANS)<\/strong><\/p>\n
