{"id":7414,"date":"2012-06-14T03:19:11","date_gmt":"2012-06-14T03:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=7414"},"modified":"2012-06-14T03:19:11","modified_gmt":"2012-06-14T03:19:11","slug":"ioa-urges-govt-to-hold-sag-games-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=7414","title":{"rendered":"IOA urges govt. to hold SAG Games next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-2926\" src=\"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vijay-kumar-malhotra.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"SAG\" width=\"250\" style=\"float: left; margin: 6px;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vijay-kumar-malhotra.jpg 300w, https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/vijay-kumar-malhotra-150x94.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>New Delhi: <\/strong>The Indian Olympic Association on Wednesday unanimously\u00a0\u00a0 urged the union government to gives approval for hosting of the South Asian Games (SAG) early next year.<\/p>\n<p>The special General Body Meting (GBM) of the IOA here reiterated its resolve to conduct the Games in the country, which has been allotted to it on rotational basis.\u00a0 The GBM felt that it will be standing shame for the country if it failed to honour the commitment to host the SAG because India is a founding member of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SARRC).<\/p>\n<p>It said that in case of some technical reasons games cannot be held in Delhi, the venue can be shifted to any other r state which has infrastructure of International standard.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the meeting, IOA acting president Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the reason given by the sports ministry seeking the deferment of the SAG are flimsy and not convincing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have already written to the Prime minister on this issue and now we will meet him\u00a0\u00a0 to known the Government\u2019s stand to end the prevailing uncertainty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also said that IOA has rejected the sports bill\/ code in its totality because it infringes the autonomy of the Sports Federations and the IOA.\u201dWe don\u2019t accept it and we have told the Government about it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Malhotra said several states have offered to hosts the Games\u201d but we are awaiting Government\u2019s response.
