Fatorda (Goa): <\/strong>Dempo Sports Club registered a hat-trick of wins and that too in style\u00a0after dismantling Mohun Bagan 5-0 in a I-League encounter at the Nehru\u00a0Stadium in Fatorda on Wednesday.\u00a0Despite not having star strikers Odafe Okolie and Jose Ramirez Barreto,\u00a0Mohun Bagan were still believed to have enough ammunition to take on the\u00a0Goan giants in their own den. But the hosts caught Mohun Bagan by surprise\u00a0with two goals inside the first ten minutes. Once Dempo had taken the lead,\u00a0the result never ever seemed to be in doubt.\n<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ranty Martins was the hero once again for Dempo. The Nigerian striker\u00a0scored a brace of goals while Joaquim Abranches also helped himself to two\u00a0goals and Sameer Naik helped complete an unexpected rout. \u00a0Dempo started with the same side that demolished Mumbai FC in the last game\u00a0and they seemed to pick up from where they had left. \u00a0Ranty was as\u00a0dangerous as ever and it was the Nigerian striker who helped open the floodgates in the eighth minute itself. Ranty helped himself to a ball from\u00a0Peter Carvalho just outside and the unleashed such a powerful shot that\u00a0found the top corner of the net.<\/p>\n
The opening goal buoyed Dempo, and while Bagan appeared to be dazed, there\u00a0was another setback in store. This time, and just a minute later, Ranty was\u00a0the provider and the goal came from the boots of Joaquim Abranches who,\u00a0incidentally, had come in for some stick for gilt-edge misses in the\u00a0previous matches. This time, though, Abranches did not put a foot wrong as\u00a0he gave finishing touches after Ranty and Climax Lawrence had done the\u00a0spadework.<\/p>\n
For a brief moment, Dempo seemed content in the two goal lead until Anthony\u00a0Pereira rattled the crossbar with a powerful long ranger. That was the clue\u00a0that Dempo\u2019s hunger had not died down and true to form they scored their\u00a0third goal in the 38th minute. The Bagan defence never really convinced\u00a0anyone and nobody raised an eyebrow when Ranty\u2019s shot was deflected by a\u00a0defender and the ball fell into the path of an unmarked Sameer Naik who\u00a0only had to guide the ball home.<\/p>\n
The bad turned worse for Mohun Bagan at the stroke of half time when Dempo\u00a0added another goal. Ranty, after a couple of misses, got his second of the\u00a0evening as he combined with Abranches \u2013 later voted the man of the match \u2013\u00a0to heap more humiliation on the visitors.<\/p>\n
The start of the second session saw more problems for Mohun Bagan.\u00a0Abranches took everyone by surprise immediately after the restart as his\u00a0snap shot from outside the box beguiled goalkeeper Sangram Mukherjee.<\/p>\n
Dempo now lead the table with an impressive nine points from three matches\u00a0while Mohun Bagan have been left with six points in their kitty.<\/p>\n

HAL Hold Pailan<\/strong><\/p>\nHAL Bangalore erased a goal\u2019s deficit to hold young Pailan Arrows 1-1 in\u00a0the third round I-League match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Wednesday. Both<\/p>\n
the goals came in the second session as Arrows took the lead off striker CS\u00a0Sabeeth, while HASC found the equaliser through Jagaba Hamza Amaba.<\/p>\n
The first session ended barren as Arrows failed to bring out the usual\u00a0flair and speed. On the other hand HAL Bangalore preferred a defensive<\/p>\n
approach in the first half.<\/p>\n
The second session saw much of the action with Arrows playing the lead.\u00a0Arrows found an early opportunity in the 47th minute but failed to find the\u00a0net as midfielder Ajay Singh saw his header coming off the crosspiece.\u00a0Keeping up the pressure Arrows found the lead in the 57th minute off a\u00a0cross from skipper Milan Singh that was sent home by Sabeeth.<\/p>\n
HAL found the equaliser in the 63rd minute when substitute RC Prakash set\u00a0up Hamza Amaba with a cross, which the latter slotted home. The drawn\u00a0result gave both the teams first point of the tournament as both the teams\u00a0lost their first two round matches.<\/p>\n
