{"id":331,"date":"2011-10-16T06:54:12","date_gmt":"2011-10-16T06:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=331"},"modified":"2011-10-16T06:54:12","modified_gmt":"2011-10-16T06:54:12","slug":"fortunate-that-i-got-injured-near-end-of-season-sania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=331","title":{"rendered":"Fortunate that I got injured near end of season: Sania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Delhi:<\/strong> A knee surgery meant that season 2011 ended a bit early for Sania Mirza but the Indian star says it won&#8217;t make much of a difference as it happened just at the right moment.<\/p>\n<p>Sania had torn her meniscus during the US Open and underwent a surgery in Hyderabad exactly a week back to be out of action for five to six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>It means that Sania won&#8217;t be in contention for WTA season-ending doubles championship, where top-four teams compete.<\/p>\n<p>Sania and her partner Elena Vesnina were in the running for a spot in the elite event before injury forced Sania out of action which led to drop in their ranking.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will start practising only after my rehabilitation is over. Right now I am walking pain free. Doctors have said that it will take around five to six weeks to recover fully,&#8221; Sania said after giving away trophies to the winners of the National championship.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The season is almost over so it is the nice time to get injured. I will be joined by a trainer from South Africa, and he will be with me for the duration,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p>Sania was happy about her husband Shoaib Malik making a comeback to the national side after a long hiatus.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a nice feeling. As a wife I am definitely happy with Shoaib&#8217;s comeback to the team. All of us have been supporting him and it is good to see him return to the national team,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Sania is also excited to be at the Buddh International circuit on October 30 when India will host its first ever Formula One Grand Prix in Greater Noida.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Definitely looking forward to the inaugural F1. I am fortunate to have been invited for the event and I am looking to be there for the event.
