The Red Devils, a name which every club feared of, turned into a joke for a few seasons. Gone are the days when Wayne Rooney tore the opposition’s defence part, Cristiano Ronaldo’s free kicks and Nemenja Vidic’s clean tackles sent shivers down the opposition’s spine. Most importantly the man who controlled Manchester United for decades — Sir Alex Ferguson — had left.<\/p>\n
People thought a new era was coming to Manchester United. People like David Moyes came and went but United was never the same. Then came Jose Mourinho, with him came Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba — the expensive maverick from France. Fellani and Mikhtriyan also joined the team. The new bunch of players unleashed the old Manchester United spirit for at least initial matches. Everything was going good until the Manchester Derby. Except a goal from Ibrahimovic, it was a toothless attack and a spineless defence. The reason why most people became critical about United’s performance is because we have seen an era when United after getting the possession of the ball would end as a shot at opposition’s goal.<\/p>\n
Paul Pogba, the prolific mid-fielder from France, was the talk of the town for quite sometime. Whether he would come to Manchester United or not, how much money is involved and much more things. Finally he arrived, fans rejoiced, but the happiness did not last much. Throughout the match you could see United players running around all over the field. Pogba was doing the right thing as a mid-fielder, but the problem was a tactical approach by coach. Going by Pogba’s standard, he needs to be given more freedom. Mourinho’s tactics sort of limited his abilities. The only way to success was to take a tough call and make some changes in tactics. Results were visible against the champion side Leicester City, making Rooney sit and giving required freedom to Pogba proved vital for that victory.
