Glenn Maxwell is hoping that his blazing knock of 145 off 65 balls against Sri Lanka in a T20 match on Tuesday will catch the eyes of Australian national cricket team selectors and help him in making a comeback into the Test squad. The Australian star hit 14 fours and 9 sixes, helping Australia to a comfortable 85-run victory.<\/p>\n
Maxwell was left out for the longer formats against Sri Lanka and also from the team scheduled to play the one day internationals against South Africa.<\/p>\n
The knock must have given confidence to Maxwell who earlier doubted his abilities to perform at the international arena.<\/p>\n
He has been facing a worldwide criticism for being an enigmatic batsman. His reverse sweeps, paddles, which were once applauded, are now the major point of criticism in his batting.<\/p>\n
For over more than a year, he has been in the fear of losing out his spot in the Australian cricket team. He himself has admitted that he felt “pitiful” after being relegated to represent Australian A side. He also added that he felt bad when people called him an “egocentric” show off.<\/p>\n
He set pretty high standards for himself at the end of the IPL 7 where he used to score on a consistent basis, which was the thing missing from him in the International arena. The situation though is pretty similar to that of Chris Gayle.<\/p>\n
