But even at that tender age he dared to dream big. With so many stars playing at the National Stage from his native place, Vashum dreamt of making a name for himself at the National level.<\/p>\n<p>Son of a farmer, Vashum is just another successful story from the North-East. And his first match wearing the National jersey was a big one indeed \u2013 against Bayern Munich. Now being overawed, the fighter within him stayed desperate to grab the opportunity. The next call came soon \u2013 for the Preparatory Camp in Dubai for the AFC Challenge Cup. <\/p>\n<p>Vashum has always been an utility player \u2013 able to play both on the wings and in the middle. \u201cIt does not bother me, as I enjoy playing both as a striker as well as on the flanks. It&#8217;s up to the coach to decide where I would play,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m extremely lucky to have donned the National Colours. We are such a big country and there are so many good footballers around. I\u2019m also lucky to have played for Kingfisher East Bengal. It\u2019s such a historic club.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ask him about his favourite player and he smiles. \u201cBhaichung Bhutia is a God to me. Playing alongside him against Bayern Munich stays the happiest moment of my life,\u201d he maintains. Apart from Bhaichung, Messi stays his favourite. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI need to establish myself as a regular member for the National Team. Getting selected for Dubai Camp is just the first step.
