New Delhi: Parikshit Somani is enjoying the long hours in the Delhi sun in the Fenesta Open National tennis championship. After winning the boys under-18 doubles title on Friday with Adil Kalyanpur, it was turn for the top seed in under-16 to hit the cruise button.<\/p>\n
On Monday, Parikshit had no trouble in defeating Saurav Kal 6-3, 6-1 in the boys’ under16 first round as he began his title campaign in style. The first day action in the junior events was jam packed with courts buzzing with activity.<\/p>\n
Parikshit realised that it was better to conserve his energy as he pulled through the first hurdle without much fuss. Mrityunjay Badola also had an easy outing in the same section (under-16) as he defeated Shubham Malhotra 6-4, 6-1 while Kushal Yedla faced some resistance in the first set before winning 7-5, 6-2 against Amit Beniwal.<\/p>\n
In the boys’ under-14 first round, top sees Himanshu Mor pulled off a 6-3, 7-6 (7\/0) win against Adarsh Naga while third seed Vipul Mehta ended up on the losing side against Sarthak Suden.<\/p>\n
In the girls’under-14 first round, top seed Prinkle Singh got a first round bye while Malika Marathe thumped Anushka Sharma 6-0, 6-0. Other winners included Annu Verma, Nisha Rani and Damini Hoon.<\/p>\n
