The current Asian Tour number one rued missed numerous birdie chances in his 3 & 2 loss with partner Adam Scott to Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson in Saturday afternoon’s Fourball session which ended with the United States holding a slim 9.5 to 8.5 lead over the International Team.<\/p>\n
Lahiri, a two-time winner this year, is determined to get on the points after also losing a Fourball match on Thursday with partner Thongchai Jaidee.<\/p>\n
“That’s what I need, a hot putter,” moaned Lahiri. “That’s not been the case since I got in on Sunday. I’ve got to find something on the greens that will make me comfortable. I’ve not even been near my ‘B’ putting game. It’s been terrible.”<\/p>\n
“Match play comes down to making putts. I heard Sangmoon (Bae) and Hideki (Matsuyama) blitzed the course and they made everything they looked at. Rickie (Fowler) made everything when he played against us on Thursday.<\/p>\n
“I didn’t feel I’m putting too bad … maybe just misreading it. Hopefully tomorrow will be a different story.”<\/p>\n
Lahiri believes the Internationals will have a realistic chance of winning only for the second time in the Presidents Cup.<\/p>\n
“We’re only one point behind. I guess that’s a good position to be in. I’m disappointed with how we played. Every time I looked at birdie, I missed it. Only made one birdie on 10. Really disappointed not to make more birdies. It’s ever a good feeling to lose,” said the 28-year-old, who is the first Indian to feature in the biennial contest.<\/p>\n
“Adam also played really good but it was also a case of having a cold putter for him. Phil and Zach played good. They made their share of birdies. I was disappointed to go down today. I’m hopeful that I can contribute tomorrow and we can pull off a memorable victory.”<\/p>\n
“I think it’ll be a close contest. Everyone is hungrier than before. I’ve not played my best but I don’t think I am far away from it. I hit it pretty good. Just need one or two to go in and get on a roll,” he said.<\/p>\n
