New Delhi: All India Football Federation (AIFF) General Secretary, Mr. Kushal Das officially declared open the Asian Football Confederation\u2019s (AFC) ONE GOAL Round Table Discussion on Nutrition and Football at Football House, the AIFF Headquarters in Dwarka, New Delhi on Wednesday (May 28, 2014).<\/p>\n
In his inaugural address, Mr. Das said: \u201cI sincerely hope that this Seminar goes a long way in addressing how we can link Football and nutrition to serve our Country.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI just met the newly appointed Sports Minister yesterday (May 27) and he is very keen on extending support towards the development of the Game on all fronts including nutrition,\u201d Mr. Das added.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is really heartening to see experts from different fields converging here in Football House for a noble cause. I hope fruitful results are rendered from the two-day meet and we can all take the Country and the game forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first day saw Senior Indian National Team Striker Robin Singh and India Women\u2019s Team Goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan take part in an interactive session where the duo shed light on the importance of nutrition in an Athlete\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo beat the best you need to eat the best,\u201d Robin who recently won the Airtel I-League with Bengaluru FC, said in his opening address.
\u201cThere is a strong need to educate the Coaches as well as the Parents to impart the message of proper nutrition from a very early age,\u201d Aditi quipped.<\/p>\n
Besides AIFF, the other Organisations who took part included the likes of Ashoka Group, Asian Football Development Project, Back 2 Fitness, British Council, DSM, FICCI, Football Link, GAIN, GH Advocates, Magic Bus, and World Vision India.
The first day also saw experts representing the areas of nutrition, social responsibility, and Football development taking part in focused group discussions and exchanging thoughts and ideas on how Football can be used as a tool and platform to spread the message.<\/p>\n
