Englishman Matthew, the reigning and three-time World Champion from Sheffield who struck gold in the Men's Singles and Men's Doubles in the 2010 Games in Delhi, will begin his title defence against Xavier Koenig, a 29-year-old Mauritian making his Games debut. Nicol David, the women's world No1 since August 2006 who is celebrating a record-equalling fifth successive appearance in the Games since 1998, lines up against Vanessa Florens, a 34-year-old from Mauritius who also competed in the 2006 Games in Melbourne. Mauritius, with a population of just over 1 million, boasts only a handful of squash courts and neither Koenig nor Florens - the only two Mauritians competing in the squash events in Glasgow - have ever been world-ranked. Top seed Matthew, ranked two in the world and aged 33, is expected to meet Guernsey's world No23 Chris Simpson, the No7 seed, in the quarter-finals before a predicted clash with England team-mate Peter Barker, the third seed and bronze medallist in 2010, in the semi-finals. Second seed James Willstrop is Matthew's anticipated opponent in a repeat of the 2010 all-English final. Willstrop, also a Yorkshireman, from Harrogate, begins his third Commonwealth Games campaign against Bermuda's Nicholas Kyme, a 33-year-old Games veteran since 2002. 30-year-old Willstrop, a former world No1 currently ranked six in the world, is drawn to meet Botswana Games debutant Alister Walker in the quarter-finals before a semi-final battle with former Pontefract club-mate Saurav Ghosal, the No4 seed from India.","og_url":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659","og_site_name":"IndianSportsNews.com - Latest Updated Sports News & Sports Blogs of Cricket, Hockey, Golf, Football, Tennis & Other Sports","article_published_time":"2014-07-18T06:19:03+00:00","author":"admin","twitter_card":"summary_large_image","twitter_misc":{"Written by":"admin","Est. reading time":"9 minutes"},"schema":{"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"Article","@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659#article","isPartOf":{"@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659"},"author":{"name":"admin","@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/#\/schema\/person\/b8f51f3c66686ab3518464e9b8368646"},"headline":"Champions Meet Mauritians In Commonwealth Games Draws","datePublished":"2014-07-18T06:19:03+00:00","mainEntityOfPage":{"@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659"},"wordCount":1870,"commentCount":0,"articleSection":["ISN Front Stories"],"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"CommentAction","name":"Comment","target":["https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659#respond"]}]},{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659","url":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659","name":"Champions Meet Mauritians In Commonwealth Games Draws - IndianSportsNews.com - Latest Updated Sports News & Sports Blogs of Cricket, Hockey, Golf, Football, Tennis & Other Sports","isPartOf":{"@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/#website"},"datePublished":"2014-07-18T06:19:03+00:00","author":{"@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/#\/schema\/person\/b8f51f3c66686ab3518464e9b8368646"},"breadcrumb":{"@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659"]}]},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=19659#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Home","item":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"Champions Meet Mauritians In Commonwealth Games Draws"}]},{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/#website","url":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/","name":"IndianSportsNews.com - Latest Updated Sports News & Sports Blogs of Cricket, Hockey, Golf, Football, Tennis & Other Sports","description":"","potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":{"@type":"EntryPoint","urlTemplate":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?s={search_term_string}"},"query-input":{"@type":"PropertyValueSpecification","valueRequired":true,"valueName":"search_term_string"}}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"Person","@id":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/#\/schema\/person\/b8f51f3c66686ab3518464e9b8368646","name":"admin","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","inLanguage":"en-US","@id":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/aaa92315b99cea76f3cb21975ca617077d7cd514d725861014bca1d7678c283b?s=96&d=mm&r=g","url":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/aaa92315b99cea76f3cb21975ca617077d7cd514d725861014bca1d7678c283b?s=96&d=mm&r=g","contentUrl":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/aaa92315b99cea76f3cb21975ca617077d7cd514d725861014bca1d7678c283b?s=96&d=mm&r=g","caption":"admin"},"sameAs":["https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in"],"url":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?author=1"}]}},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19659","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=19659"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19659\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=19659"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=19659"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=19659"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
