Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia: Promising talent Ye Jian-feng of China will contend for the PGM Lada Langkawi Championship title against the best players on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) at the Gunung Raya Golf Resort on Monday.<\/p>\n
Ye will be among an international mix of players from over 13 countries, including past champions Pavit Tangkamolprasert of Thailand, Chan Shih-chang of Chinese Taipei as well as defending champion Mitsuhiko Hashizume of Japan, in the RM250,000 (approximately US$80,000) ADT event.<\/p>\n
Ye, who holds the distinction of being the youngest player at the age of 13 years and 20 days to play on the Asian Tour, hopes to do well on the ADT after missing out on an Asian Tour card by a slim margin at the Qualifying School in Thailand earlier this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy aim is always to play well, be it on the Asian Tour or the ADT. This season is not going to be easy as I did not manage to get my Tour card but I\u2019m prepared for the challenges ahead,\u201d said the 22-year-old Ye.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ADT is a good platform for me to hone my game and it allows me to gain more experience. My main focus for this year is to excel on the ADT. I will have to try and get into top-five on the final Order of Merit to earn my Asian Tour card for next year,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Ye will be joined by compatriot Shang Zhi at the PGM Lada Langkawi Championship, which is the third event on the 2014 ADT schedule.<\/p>\n
Singapore’s Koh Deng Shan and Lam Zhiqun, who enjoyed solid amateur careers, will also feature in the ADT event alongside local heroes, Airil Rizman, Shaaban Hussin and S. Siva Chandhran, who was the first ADT Order of Merit winner when the fledging Tour was inaugurated in 2010.<\/p>\n
The winner of the PGM Lada Langkawi Championship will take home a prize purse of US$13,500 and receive six Official World Golf Ranking points. The top six players and ties will also earn points based on a sliding scale.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
