{"id":17552,"date":"2013-10-13T08:40:52","date_gmt":"2013-10-13T08:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=17552"},"modified":"2013-10-13T08:40:52","modified_gmt":"2013-10-13T08:40:52","slug":"subroto-cup-meghalaya-in-u-17-boys-final-manipur-enter-girls-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=17552","title":{"rendered":"Subroto Cup: Meghalaya in U-17 boys\u2019 final; Manipur enter girls\u2019 final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><strong>New Delhi:<\/strong> OM Roy High School, Shillong, Meghalaya entered the U-17 Boys\u2019 final while RMSM Vidhyalaya, Nambol, Manipur secured a spot in the girls\u2019 title clash in the 54th Subroto Cup at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">While boys from Meghalaya shot down Army Boys, Danapur, Bihar 3-0, RMSM Vidhyalaya, Nambol, Manipur girls romped home to a 5-1 victory over Reverend Saiaithanga Memorial School, Aizawl, Mizoram.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Both the girls and boys teams will play in their respective finals for the first time.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Although Meghalaya boys teams have won the U-17 title in earlier editions, this is the first time that this particular school team will appear in the title clash. The clash between Army Boys and Meghalaya was an exciting, fast paced one. Both teams were equally matched although the taller, stronger Army Boys enjoyed considerable physical advantage over the smaller but quicker Meghalaya players.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">However, Meghalaya\u2019s superior fitness saw them through as they pumped in three goals in the second session. Suting converted two penalties within a span of four minutes while Jimmyson scored in injury time to complete the tally.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">In the girls\u2019 section, RMSM Vidhyalaya, Nambol, Manipur booked a spot in the final with an easy 5-1 win over Reverend Saiaithanga Memorial School, Aizawl, Mizoram. The girls from Manipur did not face too much trouble from their rivals and a hat-trick from D Grace in the first half and another couple of goals by Ratanbala Devi after the break were enough to see them through.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Meanwhile in other U-17 Boys\u2019 matches, Troeschina of Ukraine had to fight hard for a 2-0 win over Police High School, Baripada, Odisha. The Ukraine team, who had won the UNICEF Cup in Spain recently, found it tough to break down the tough Odisha team who suffered their first defeat in the tournament.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">In earlier girls\u2019 matches, Tyssad School, Meghalaya registered a 3-0 win over Afghanistan. Tyssad scored through Megh, P Shulet, and I Mawlong to hand the Afghans their first loss in three matches.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">NCC (NER) handed AP Sports School, Andhra Pradesh their first defeat of the tournament. NCC, who have now knocked Andhra off the top spot in the group, registered a 7-0 win with A Roja scoring four goals.
