The Steel Plant Sports Board have 11 steel plants in around the country. SAIL Hockey Academy is an important hockey centre which has been functional since 1992 at Rourkela.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Narinder Batra, Secretary General, Hockey India welcomed Steel Plant Sports Board for their entry into Hockey India as an associate member. \u201cThe Steel Hockey Academy has produced some international hockey players like Birendra Lakra, Jayram Lakra and Sushil Xalxo. SAIL (Steel Authority of India) has contributed immensely in the development and promotion of Indian Hockey.
