Kapur, who qualified for the tournament at the Local Final Qualifying in Dunbar two weeks ago, enjoyed a dream start when he briefly led at Muirfield courtesy of a sensational 30 on the front nine. However, he has been struggling to rediscover his opening round magic.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou will have your good and bad days. You aren\u2019t always going to have a great day. Sometimes the bad ones are tough to take. It is not something you plan or hope for. You have to take it on the chin and move ahead,\u201d said Kapur, who was still smiles when talking to reporters.\n<\/p>\n
The Indian got off to a poor start when he was eight-over after six holes before adding four other bogeys on his way home for 15-over-par 228.<\/p>\n
\u201cI got off to a rough start and got bunkered a lot. The plan was to stay away from as many bunkers as possible but I kept hitting it into bunker after bunker. I wasn\u2019t even in the middle of the bunker. I was either on the lip or the back of the bunker,\u201d said Kapur.<\/p>\n
\u201cI made two triple bogeys on my front nine \u2013 had a lost ball on six \u2013 and when you are eight over after six holes, you know it is not going to be a good day. You just try and salvage something out of your round. That\u2019s the nature of the game,\u201d said the Indian.<\/p>\n
Kapur, who is ranked 13th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, will have nothing to lose in the final round where he hopes to make a move in the right direction on the leaderboard.<\/p>\n
\u201cI might be a little bit aggressive off the tees because I\u2019m in a nothing to lose situation. I guess I need to get to know links golf a little better. Major championships are tough learning curves. That\u2019s why they are so tough to win and to play well.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a learning experience for me. I\u2019ve learnt a lot from the good and the bad. Obviously there\u2019s still some work to be done so that I don\u2019t make mistakes like these anymore,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile Lee Westwood smiled his way around the rough and sharp edges of Muirfield for a 70 and a three-under-par 210 total that puts him two shots ahead of Woods and Hunter Mahan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
