{"id":15757,"date":"2013-07-04T09:13:52","date_gmt":"2013-07-04T09:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=15757"},"modified":"2013-07-04T09:13:52","modified_gmt":"2013-07-04T09:13:52","slug":"big-stride-for-fung-as-he-make-move-on-world-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=15757","title":{"rendered":"Big stride for Fung as he make move on World Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Singapore: Malaysia\u2019s Nicholas Fung received a timely confidence boost after making a big stride on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) following his first win at the PGM UMW Templer Park Masters last week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fung received six OWGR points from his maiden win on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) and jumped 200 spots from 690th to 490th to become the highest ranked Malaysian golfer in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m getting better because I can win on the ADT. Now, I\u2019m looking forward to win on the Asian Tour. There are many international players here so it isn\u2019t easy to win. I tried really hard,\u201d said Fung.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the latest rankings, there are a total of 17 Asian Tour stars in the world\u2019s top 200.<\/p>\n<p>Three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand (55th) and countryman Kiradech Aphibarnrat (85th) are ranked among the world\u2019s top 100 while former Asian Tour member, Bae Sang-moon of Korea, is also in the top 100 in 90th position.<\/p>\n<p>Others players in the top 200 include honorary Members, K.J. Choi of Korea (101st), Fiji\u2019s Vijay Singh (145th) and India\u2019s Jeev Milkha Singh (147th).<\/p>\n<p>Reigning Order of Merit winner, Thaworn Wiratchant of Thailand is in 118th place followed by China\u2019s Liang Wen-chong (168th), Korea\u2019s Noh Seung-yul (173rd) and Philippines\u2019 Juvic Pagunsan (187th).<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s Gaganjeet Bhullar is the highest ranked Indian (135th) with compatriots Anirban Lahiri (153rd) and Shiv Kapur (195th) trailing closely behind.<\/p>\n<p>Seven-time Asian Tour winner Prayad Marksaeng of Thailand is lying in 162nd place while Australia\u2019s Scott Hend is in 198th place. Chile\u2019s Felipe Aguilar occupies 134th place while Korea\u2019s Kim Hyung-sung is in 109th place.<\/p>\n<p>Starting this year, all ADT events will receive Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, which is a huge boost for players as they get more opportunities to play and improve on their world rankings.<\/p>\n<p>The OWGR will be used to determine the top 60-man field at the World Cup of Golf in Australia this November and the Olympics in Rio De Janeiro in 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Singapore: Malaysia\u2019s Nicholas Fung received a timely confidence boost after making a big stride on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) following his first win at the PGM UMW Templer Park Masters last week.
