Amidst the growing demands for N Srinivasan’s removal from the BCCI’s post, Lalit Modi, former IPL commissioner has proposed the name of IS Bindra to be a possible successor to N Srinivasan in case he steps down. Modi demanded the resignation of Srinivasan because of the recent arrest of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Modi said the current BCCI crisis is a national disgrace. He was quoted by Times of India<\/strong> saying,\u201d Srinivasan has played with the sentiments of cricket fans and to compensate, we need a leader who cannot just retrieve the pride and trust but also give a corruption free future to Indian Cricket. Inderjit Bindra is the only man who can do all the justice to this as he has those leadership qualities which are very much needed in such crisis and his ability to make some tough decisions will also come handy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bindra has been associated with the board since 1975 and was the president of the BCCI from 1993-1996. Modi was quoted by Deccan Chronicle<\/strong> saying, “He has long been a senior advisor to the ICC and as such commands respect across the globe. He is an administrator with experience and respect and his guidance and vision would steer Indian cricket into calmer waters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former IPL Commissioner was quoted by Hindustan Times<\/strong> saying, “He is a man with a brilliant record as a cricket administrator and a man of unqualified dignity. He would restore instant belief for everyone in the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the recent reports of Deccan Herald<\/strong> quoted IS Bindra saying, \u201cSrinivasan is not just arrogant but also a corrupt person. A person like him doesn\u2019t deserve the responsibility of running the BCCI.\u201d<\/p>\n

Srinivasan, whose son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings CEO Gurunath Meiyappa was arrested for alleged involvement in betting, has remained defiant despite the growing crisis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
