{"id":15152,"date":"2013-05-30T02:39:34","date_gmt":"2013-05-30T02:39:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=15152"},"modified":"2013-05-30T02:39:34","modified_gmt":"2013-05-30T02:39:34","slug":"bcci-president-should-tender-his-resignation-on-moral-grounds-sports-ministry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=15152","title":{"rendered":"BCCI President should tender his resignation on moral grounds: Sports Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">New Delhi: Perturbed by the recent developments in cricket pertaining to the IPL spot fixing scandal, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has expressed its views that BCCI president N Srinivasan, whose son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappa, too has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the scandal, should tender his resignation on moral grounds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In an staement on Wednesday, Sports Minstry said that it has observed with considerable disquiet, the reports about match &amp; spot fixing in cricket. \u201cBCCI is inquiring into allegations of match and spot fixing. As there is a conflict of interest in this inquiry, therefore BCCI President should tender his resignation on moral grounds, pending the outcome of the inquiry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is in favour of a law to curb malpractices in all sports. It will send its comments on the bill drafted by the Law Ministry, and is looking forward to working with the Law Ministry and other stakeholders for the development of a comprehensive law against match &amp; spot fixing,\u201d said the staement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry of Sports has also observed that a section of the Media has reported that it is in favour of a law regularising betting in the sporting events in the country. The Ministry clarifies that betting is a State Subject and cannot be part of a Central law.
