Chennai: A fine batting display by Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets at Chepauk on Thursday. Cameron White was disappointed losing the match despite posting a good total and said they need to improve on their game.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a good total in the end. It was a bit a poor performance from our side in the first six overs but we did well in the last five. The loss was disappointing. To get ourselves in this position and lose was bad. There were a few areas we were off and we need to improve for the game day after tomorrow. You need to learn from your mistakes and make better players,\u201d said White<\/p>\n
Meanwhile though Chennai won the thriller, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who played a stellar role in the victory with his astounding knock of 67 off 37 deliveries, wasn’t too amused. According to the skipper Chennai would have to pull up their socks as they move towards the latter stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we started off well with the ball but gave away too many runs in the death overs. Chasing 160 becomes difficult. The bowlers did not do well,\u201d said Dhoni, adding that he got off to a good start but had to slow down in the middle seeing the condition and situation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did get a good start with the bat but slowed down in the middle as we lost wickets. Their leg-spinners bowled well and the wicket also got slower. But slowing depended on lot other factors and one being the batsman at the other end. Bravo, for instance played a maiden,\u201d said Dhoni, who also got the man-of-the-match award.<\/p>\n
He said that it was difficult to gauge how many was too many. \u201cIt difficult to forsee that and therefore we cannot have a fixed game plan. The performance of the side has been good but as we get to the latter stage, we need to raise our games. Bowlers need to start bowling Yorkers. It becomes critical towards the end of the tournament.
