Dublin: Egypt’s Omar Abdel Meguid secured an unexpected place in the final of the Cannon Kirk Homes Irish Open after overcoming top seed Chris Simpson in semi-finals of the PSA World Tour Challenger 15 squash event at Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club in Dublin.<\/p>\n
In his first meeting with Simpson, third seed Meguid battled for 63 minutes to defeat the world No25 from England 11-9, 12-10, 4-11, 11-6.<\/p>\n
“3\/1 loss today,” a disconsolate Simpson told his Twitter followers later. “My squash was nowhere near where it should be, and as a result it was the most unenjoyable game I’ve ever played!”\n<\/p>\n
Meguid, ranked 43 in the world, is celebrating the tenth Tour final of his career.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old from Giza will take on Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan, the No2 seed from Malaysia.<\/p>\n
World No40 Adnan ended the run of unseeded American Christopher Gordon, beating the 26-year-old US champion 11-7, 5-11, 11-4, 11-5 in 50 minutes.<\/p>\n
Adnan, 27, is marking the 16th Tour final of his career.
