He came up with a crystal clear view that great players like Shane Warne, Matthew Hayden, Jason Gillespie could have stayed longer and given the team a much easier time during the transition.

“They were the source of learning for the upcoming generations and it would have been much better if they would have played bit more. Their cricketing knowledge would have surely helped the younger players in dealing with tough tours of Indian and England,” Tait said during an interaction with the media.

“There have been some alterations in the domestic level of Australian Cricket in past few years but I still feel when you learn from the players who have ton of experience it’s quite different from what you have learnt in domestic cricket,” he added.

Tait was quite baffled with the way outside the field controversies are going around whether it is of Sri Lankan players not being allowed in Chennai or of England Board banning their players from participation in IPL. He said, “First thing first, it is not in the hands of players and if they are being told by the authority then they should stick to it. IPL is an Indian tournament but it is popular all over the world but this kind of incident should not happen,” he said.

On the poor-run of Rajasthan Royals last season he said, “We were not that good in the previous edition of the tournament especially when it comes to death overs in the couple of matches which cost us the place in the semifinals. James Faulkner will be a great asset to the team with his serious pace and I hope the team gels up well to win this time. Personally, I enjoy bowling at death overs but it’s just matter of luck that it works someday and someday it doesn’t and that’s what cricket is all about. “

“I have been quite inconsistent because of my injuries in the past and with my foot which was most of the time popping out of the bowling crease. But I had made some changes and I am happy with the improvements that I have seen during my matches in the Big Bash and Bangladesh Premier league. My focus is to keep the things simple as the pace has always been my biggest strength and I will stick to it even in this edition of IPL,” he concluded.

Jaipur: Rajasthan Royals bowling spearhead Shaun Tait feels that few of Australian ex-cricketers left the game too early and that’s why Australia’s performance has been going down during their transition period.
