Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a new playing condition for Tests, One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20s) that instructs the umpires to call \u2018No ball\u2019 whenever a bowler breaks the non-striker\u2019s wicket during the act of delivery.<\/p>\n
This playing condition will come into effect on 30 April, and the first international match to be played under the new regulation will be the first ODI between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in Bulawayo on Friday 3 May.<\/p>\n
ICC\u2019s General Manager \u2013 Cricket, Geoff Allardice, said: \u201cThe recent interpretation used in international matches to call \u2018Dead ball\u2019 when a bowler breaks the wicket during a delivery has not adequately dealt with this situation.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) recently decided to address this issue by introducing a new \u2018No ball\u2019 Law from 1 October 2013. The ICC Cricket Committee noted the MCC\u2019s decision, and recommended that an ICC playing condition, mirroring the new No ball Law, be introduced to international cricket as early as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
The ICC Chief Executives Committee approved this recommendation at its March meeting in Dubai.<\/p>\n
Mr Allardice added: \u201cThe ICC has decided to introduce this playing condition five months prior to the MCC changing the \u2018No ball\u2019 Law because there is a lot of important cricket to be played before 1 October, including the ICC Champions Trophy in June.<\/p>\n
