Chandigarh: Kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball players, who were scheduled to participate in the Women National Games in Karnataka, had to face a harrowing time when they were forced to return from the Delhi Railway Station yesterday.<\/p>\n
The games are to begin from December 8.<\/p>\n
The players were called back by officials of the sports department after they failed to get seats on the Karnataka-bound train.<\/p>\n
However, the officials were seen passing the buck to the Sports Ministry. As per provided information, the department had asked for 37 seats, but the ministry could provide only 27 seats.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were assured by the ministry that the reservation would be done,\u201d said an official of the sports department.<\/p>\n
A press release issued by the sports department stated that the selection trials for the above said events were held on November 3 at the sports complex in Sector 42, but still the officials relied on the ministry to provide reservation at the eleventh hour.<\/p>\n
The department received the \u2018confirmation\u2019 in the afternoon on December 3, despite the fact that it had requested the ministry to send it by December 1.<\/p>\n
