{"id":12177,"date":"2012-12-07T16:00:41","date_gmt":"2012-12-07T16:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=12177"},"modified":"2012-12-07T16:00:41","modified_gmt":"2012-12-07T16:00:41","slug":"aai-lashes-out-at-government-terming-de-recognizing-unconstitutional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=12177","title":{"rendered":"AAI lashes out at Government, terming de-recognizing unconstitutional"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Delhi<\/strong>: Archery Association of India (AAI) today lambasted the Government for de \u2013recognizing it calling the decision unconstitutional and arbitrary.<\/p>\n<p>Questioning the decision, AAI president Vijay Kumar Malhotra said that Sports Ministry has no right to de recognize the Association.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cWe have not violated any rule or law of the land and the decision is illegal,\u201d said the president.<\/p>\n<p>He said he was surprised at the Government\u2019s argument that AAI has not adhered to the Sports Code of Government of India.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSports code of the Government of India has no legal sanctity .It is not an Act, it is not a part of the constitution and there has not even been a Gazette notification about this so called code\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Malhotra said, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has been repeatedly emphasizing that it is against the Sports Code and the government Intervention.<\/p>\n<p>He lashed out at the Sports Ministry for misleading the public by churning out false information.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sports ministry says that Sports code is a virtual copy of the IOC charter which is factually incorrect.&nbsp;Today I received a letter from the IOC in which the world body has recognized me as the Acting President of the IOA. They are fully aware of my age and my tenure as AAI president. If I had violated the IOC charter they would not have written this letter to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Malhotra said the Sports Ministry keeps on stressing that he has been head of the AAI for 40 years but it ignores the fact that he has also been in politics for last 60 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have been member of Lok Sabha for four times, member of Rajya Sabha once , currently leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, have been member of the then Delhi Metropolitan council several times. Even my opponent appreciate my contributions .They praise me for being getting elected repeatedly,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Malhotra said the AAI elections were held as per the constitution. Nominations were filed, there was no arbitrary rejection of any paper, proper time was given for canvassing . There were contests for several posts. Elections were held in open before the media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am surprised that Sports Minister held a press conference to announce de recognition of AAI but did not give the correct picture to the media\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Questioning the legal sanctity of the Sports Code, he has demanded imediate restoration of the recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Malhotra also informed that Archery\u2019s World Body (FITA) has already conveyed its full support to the AAI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOur archers will take part in the International Competitions under the tricolor \u201c<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Indian Sports News Network<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi: Archery Association of India (AAI) today lambasted the Government for de \u2013recognizing it calling the decision unconstitutional and arbitrary.
