New Delhi: Though the Jaypee Group has invested over Rs 2000 crore to build and manage the Formula One track and stadium in Greater Noida and they have a 10-year agreement to run the F-1 races to recover the money, they may break earlier than expected as a number of events have been lined to make the place financially viable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe honeymoon period for the F-1 debut in India is expected to last for another two seasons at least, during which period Jaypee can easily break even. This circuit is not meant to cater just one race in a year,\u201d said Sanjay Sharma, head of JK Tyres\u2019 Motor Sports Division. \u201cInstead, there will be eight to ten championships every year, including two-wheeler and four-wheeler races. All these are lining up to come to India.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sharma said, earlier, though the technology was available in India to develop more advanced machines, there was no proper infrastructure to try them out. \u201cThe F-1 track has filled that vacuum. Now the infrastructure is in place, our economy is stable and the future of motor sports looks rosier as all the issues will now get addressed,\u201d Sharma noted.<\/p>\n
