{"id":11085,"date":"2012-10-26T02:39:21","date_gmt":"2012-10-26T02:39:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=11085"},"modified":"2012-10-26T02:39:21","modified_gmt":"2012-10-26T02:39:21","slug":"east-zone-defeat-central-zone-to-win-duleep-trophy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=11085","title":{"rendered":"East Zone defeat Central Zone to win Duleep Trophy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 6px; float: left;\" src=\"images\/cricket\/jalaj-saxena.jpg\" alt=\"East Zone defeat Central Zone to win Duleep Trophy\" width=\"200\" \/>Chennai<\/strong>: Spin duo of Iresh Saxena and Anustup Mazumdar helped East Zone beat Central by virtue of 43 runs first innings to lift their fifth&nbsp;<a href=\"search.html?cx=partner-pub-2004395898380537%3A5221044443&amp;cof=FORID%3A10&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=Duleep+Trophy+&amp;sa=Search\">Duleep Trophy<\/a> title.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Left-arm spinner Saxena and leg-break bowler Majumdar accounted for nine wickets amongst themselves to bundle out Central for 189 in their first innings.<\/p>\n<p>Central in reply to East\u2019s 232, never could get going in the match and apart from the opener Tanmay Srivastava no one looked comfortable on the slow turning pitch.<\/p>\n<p>Srivastava played a patient knock and held the innings but then lack of support from one did Central in.<\/p>\n<p>He eventually fell six short of his century after he gave an easy catch to Ishank Jaggi at forward short leg. He scored 94 off 252 balls laced with eight boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>Iresh ended with his career best figures of five for 58, while Majumdar returned with figures of 4-29.<\/p>\n<p>It was in fact Mazumdar\u2019s introduction to the bowling attack that tilted the match in their favour.
