{"id":1102,"date":"2011-11-24T13:33:05","date_gmt":"2011-11-24T13:33:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=1102"},"modified":"2011-11-24T13:33:05","modified_gmt":"2011-11-24T13:33:05","slug":"tina-brullo-appointed-as-wsh-competitions-operations-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=1102","title":{"rendered":"Tina Brullo appointed as WSH Competitions Operations Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mumbai: <\/strong>Tina Brullo, a globally recognized name in the sports industry with over 15 years of extensive experience in managing international sports events operations, has signed on with World Series Hockey as competition operations manager.<\/p>\n<p>Tina has played a major role in several global events, including the Hockey World Cup in 2010, where she was the competitions operations manager and was responsible for organization of all aspects relating to competition to FIH standards, including all areas of field of play &amp; warm up pitch, team training schedules and transport, procurement of sports specific and technical bench equipment, recruitment and training of sports specific volunteers, assisting Technical officials\/Umpires, assisting\u00a0 with the accreditation process and zoning <\/p>\n<p>The other highlights of her career include the 2011 Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, 2011 AFC Asian Cup, 2009 Samsung Women\u2019s Champions Trophy, 2009 ABN Amro Men\u2019s Champions Trophy, 2006 Doha Asian Games, 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, 2004 Athens Olympics among several others. <\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s also had significant stints with sports associations, having worked with the International Hockey Federation (FIH), Cricket Australia and Hockey Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Tina said, \u201cI\u2019m excited to be part of World Series Hockey, which is by far the biggest initiative that hockey has ever seen. It\u2019s the first time that eight different venues will be used in a single tournament in just over a month and managing competition operations for a hockey event of this scale is a big opportunity. I\u2019m going to relish the challenge and look forward to an action packed next couple of months\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Dennis Meredith, Technical Director, World Series Hockey, said, \u201cHaving spent several years in various capacities in the sport, from being a player to managing venues to handling competition operations, Tina brings in a holistic understanding to her role with WSH. Her track record over the decade and a half that she has been involved with the sport is impeccable and I\u2019m sure she will take charge and deliver a world class hockey event from the competition operations aspect\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The WSH will be held from December 17, 2011 to January 22, 2012 and will involve 200 leading players &#8212; Indian and international &#8212; who will showcase their talent in 61 matches. It will be a multi-city franchise-based League with players being allocated to the teams based on the internationally accepted and practised \u2018draft\u2019 system.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural edition of the league will comprise eight teams out of Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Pune, Bhopal, Punjab, Ranchi and Rourkela.<br \/>Hockey players, for the first time, will have a global platform to exhibit their skills for which they will be financially rewarded.
