\"dc\"New Delhi<\/strong>: Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited\u2019s plea to Supreme Court to save their <\/span>Indian Premier League <\/span><\/a>franchise <\/span>Deccan Chargers (DHCL) from <\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>getting eliminated from the tournament could not bring any respite as apex Court denied them extension for furnishing to furnish the bank guarantee of 100 crore to the BCCI.<\/p>\n

With the Supreme Court rejecting the plea, it now means that DHCL last attempt at saving their cash stripped from losing spot from IPL could not bring any respite as their elimination from the cash rich tournament stands as it was.<\/p>\n

Earlier today in a last attempt to save Deccan Chargers from getting terminated from the IPL owners Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd. appealed to Supreme court  against  Bombay High Court\u2019s decision to nullify the status quo passed the arbitrator.<\/p>\n

BCCI had moved to the court after retired Supreme Court judge C.K. Thakkar, appointed arbitrator by the High Court in the case, passed a stay order on the termination of DHCL\u2019s IPL franchise Deccan Chargers.<\/p>\n

In its judgement the High Court said that an arbitrator cannot overrule an order passed by the court.<\/p>\n

\u201cBCCI moved an appeal against the Order of Arbitrator and the same was heard today morning. The Hon\u2019ble High Court was pleased to stay the Order of Arbitrator after hearing both the parties. Thus, the termination of DC Franchise stands,\u201d said the BCCI official website.<\/p>\n

The court had asked DHCL to furnish a bank guarantee of Rs 100 crore, a condition set for Deccan Charger\u2019s survival in IPL. But BCCI could not go on with the termination of the cash strapped IPL team as the arbitrator passed a status quo.<\/p>\n

Seeking justice the cricket board moved to the court and challenged the status quo.<\/p>\n

BCCI counsel Raju Subramaniam in BCCI\u2019s argument in the case said that DHCL were given sufficient time to submit the guarantee and if Deccan Chargers contract was not terminated; several foreign playing for them will not be able to take part in the auction.
 
Meanwhile, DHCL maintained that they wanted to sell the team but BCCI stood against and also urged that termination on the grounds of outstanding liabilities will be too harsh and they should consider that.<\/p>\n
