{"id":10928,"date":"2012-10-18T13:02:11","date_gmt":"2012-10-18T13:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=10928"},"modified":"2012-10-18T13:02:11","modified_gmt":"2012-10-18T13:02:11","slug":"ioa-grants-affiliation-to-five-national-federations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=10928","title":{"rendered":"IOA grants affiliation to five National Federations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 6px; float: left;\" src=\"images\/others\/vijay_kumar_malhotra.jpg\" alt=\"IOA grants affiliation to five National Federations\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/>New Delhi<\/strong>: <a href=\"search.html?cx=partner-pub-2004395898380537%3A5221044443&amp;cof=FORID%3A10&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=Indian+Olympic+Association+&amp;sa=Search\">Indian Olympic Association <\/a>(IOA) today granted provisional affiliation to five national federations &#8211; Ice Skating Association of India, Ice Hockey Association of India, Indian Amateur Luge Association, the Indian Golf Union and Modern pentathlon.- with voting rights.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to grant affiliation to these federations was announced by IOA Acting President Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra after the IOA\u2019s&nbsp; Special General Body meeting here.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had appointed a five member committee to discuss the issue of affiliation of federations and it recommended that one year provisional affiliation&nbsp; be granted&nbsp; to&nbsp; national federations and they be given voting rights as well for the November elections.<\/p>\n<p>The five-member committee consisted of G S Mander, R K Anand, BP Baishya, V D Nanavati and Ashutosh Sharma.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Malhotra made it clear that while these federations satisfy most of the criteria but they still will have to&nbsp; comply with the relevant provisions of the of IOA constitution and fulfill the remaining requirements within a year or else their affiliation will be withdrawn.,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also decided to set up three-member election commission to supervise the IOA polls which are slated to be held on November 25.<\/p>\n<p>It unanimously authorized Prof Malhotra to nominate members for this election&nbsp;&nbsp; commission.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Malhotra added that there is no discord or conflict between the IOA and the IOC.
