{"id":10720,"date":"2012-10-10T10:02:30","date_gmt":"2012-10-10T10:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=10720"},"modified":"2012-10-10T10:02:30","modified_gmt":"2012-10-10T10:02:30","slug":"hockey-india-league-appoints-steve-catton-as-hil-competitions-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=10720","title":{"rendered":"Hockey India League appoints Steve Catton as HIL Competitions Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Delhi<\/strong>: Hockey India League (HIL) has appointed Steve Catton as Competitions Director for the six-team franchise-based event that is slated to be held from January 5 to February 3, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Hockey India Secretary-General and Hockey India League Chairman Narinder Batra said the appointment of Catton is an important step towards ensuring that HIL is a quality event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking to draw from Steve\u2019s rich experience as the European Hockey League Competitions Director to make Hockey India League a well-conducted event,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince Steve will work closely with a number of Indian technical officials, we are sure that Hockey India League will create a rich legacy,\u201d&nbsp;Batra added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was involved in establishing the English Hockey League back in 1989 and has been European Hockey and Euro Hockey League Competitions Director from 2005- 11. With that kind of experience, Steve can ensure HIL\u2019s inaugural year is memorable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Catton said he was very excited about the chance to establish Hockey India League as the definitive league event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a terrific opportunity for HIL to become the most sought-after hockey event for players, officials and the entire hockey fraternity.
