General"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-6079\" style=\"margin: 6px; float: left;\" src=\"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/boxing-gloves.jpg\" alt=\"boxing\" width=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/boxing-gloves.jpg 250w, https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/boxing-gloves-150x94.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>New Delhi<\/strong>: Rajesh Bhandari, the newly elected Secretary General of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation, on Monday (1 Oct 2012) took over the reins, as one of the chief functionaries for the governing body of boxing in India.&nbsp; Bhandari, who was unanimously elected for office at the recently concluded Annual General Body Meeting held at Patiala, brings a certain credibility to the post with his vast experience and understanding of the sport. <\/p>\n<p>Having already served two terms as the Secretary General, IABF earlier in his career, he is no stranger to the current assignment and is perfectly adept with the job responsibilities. He himself has been a boxer of national repute and hence understands the intricacies of the sport and the challenges a professional athlete is faced with. Mr Bhandari, a veteran in the field of sports administration, is also a qualified international Referee\/Judge and Technical Official and has officiated at numerous international and domestic Championships. A native of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, the 56 year old is also the serving Secretary General of the HP State Olympic Association.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day at office in the capital city of Delhi, Mr Bhandari familiarised himself with his deputies and the other members of the Indian boxing federation. He also addressed a meeting \u2013 consisting of the organisation\u2019s Executive Director, Chairman ROC (Ring Officials Comion) and a Dronacharya Awardee National Coach \u2013 directed towards a determined focus for the development of the sport.&nbsp; Speaking on being elected for the post of the Secretary General, he said, \u201cIt is my sincere honour to have been elected for this post and it will be an absolute privilege to serve this association once again. I intend to take forward all the good work that my predecessor has done so far and see India further solidify its stature in the boxing world\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Outlining the immediate and foremost agendas that he aims to address, Mr Bhandari expressed that it was of utmost importance to continue the transparent functioning of the federation and the conduct of all the domestic championships and tournaments. He also stressed on the significance of exposure tours, strengthening the domestic structure and said that the federation\u2019s onus will also lie in spotting and nurturing talent.
