{"id":10115,"date":"2012-09-18T08:22:42","date_gmt":"2012-09-18T08:22:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=10115"},"modified":"2012-09-18T08:22:42","modified_gmt":"2012-09-18T08:22:42","slug":"ubs-returns-as-title-sponsor-of-the-hong-kong-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.co.in\/?p=10115","title":{"rendered":"Ubs returns as title sponsor of the Hong Kong Open `"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/strong><strong>Hong Kong<\/strong>: The Hong Kong Open will carry the title sponsorship of UBS for the eighth time when the 54th edition of Hong Kong\u2019s longest-running sporting event takes place from November 15-18, 2012.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>In 2011, Northern Ireland\u2019s Rory McIlroy became the 10th different Major champion to win the UBS Hong Kong Open, which this year returns once again to Hong Kong Golf Club, in Fanling.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>UBS, the diversified global financial services company, first became title sponsors of the Hong Kong Open in 2006 \u2013 four years after the tournament joined The European Tour International Schedule \u2013 with Scotland\u2019s Colin Montgomerie marking the occasion by winning his 30th Tour title.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Since then, the Spanish duo of Jos\u00e9 Manuel Lara and Miguel Angel Jim\u00e9nez, Chinese Taipei\u2019s Lin Wen-tang, Frenchman Gr\u00e9gory Bourdy and England\u2019s Ian Poulter have all joined Montgomerie in the illustrious roll call of former champions of the Hong Kong Open, which will again be co-sanctioned by The European and Asian Tours, and the Hong Kong Golf Association (HKGA).<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>As usual, this year\u2019s US$2 million tournament will be played in the critical week before the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, thus giving competitors the final chance to qualify for the 60-man showpiece. &nbsp;<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>As the UBS Hong Kong Open will feature towards the tail-end of the Asian Tour season, it will also greatly impact the race to win the prestigious Asian Tour\u2019s Order of Merit crown, currently held by Juvic Pagunsan of the Philippines.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Kathy Shih, Head of Asia Pacific Wealth Management for UBS, said: \u201cUBS is delighted to continue its association with the Hong Kong Open and its role in establishing the tournament as one of the most prestigious championships in Asian golf.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the same time, the Hong Kong Open has played an integral part in UBS\u2019 regional sponsorship strategy, and has been extremely successful in fulfilling the firm\u2019s sponsorship objectives for the Hong Kong market.
