<\/strong>\"HI<\/strong>New Delhi: <\/strong>Hockey India on Monday announced that Wave Group under the stewardship of Gurdeep Singh \u2018Ponty\u2019 Chadha\u2019 would own the Delhi franchise in the Hockey India League and make its maiden foray in the world of sports.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Hockey India Secretary-General and Hockey India League Chairman Dr Narinder Batra said the entry of Wave Group into Indian sports augured well for hockey. \u201cOver the past few weeks when we have been interacting with him, we have seen Ponty Chadha\u2019s infectious enthusiasm. We believe that the Delhi franchise is in very good hands,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased that we are moving towards establishing Hockey India League <\/a>as the world\u2019s best hockey league. We have so far signed up with four major business groups \u2013 Sahara India for Lucknow, Jaypee Group for Punjab, Patel-Uniexcel Group for Ranchi and now Wave Group for Delhi,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are in advanced talks with business houses for the other two franchisees.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Wave Group Chairman and Managing Director Chadha said the Group had been waiting for the right opportunity to be able to get into sports. \u201cI was born in Uttar Pradesh, which has been an incredible nursery for hockey from the legendary Dhyan Chand\u2019s time. We are delighted to be able to associate ourselves with what promises to be dynamic league,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
